Standard and Specialized Mechanical Engineering Services

As a fully licensed engineering firm, MEG has over 25 years experience in HVAC design on virtually every type of architectural design. MEG specializes in residential and light commercial mechanical systems design using new technology with conventional techniques to provide the ideal system to fit the customer’s needs.

MEG can provide consultation on the advantages and disadvantages of various energy sources and equipment and the integration of these systems in the structure.  Whether for building department approval, contract documents, or verbal consultation, MEG has the experience to meet your needs.

 Some of MEG's Services
 Include:

 Residential and Commercial Energy
 Compliance (T-24)
- Specializing in
compliance of unique architectural designs, the
firm has done thousands of Title 24 reports
covering buildings in all 16 California climate
 zones using certified computer programs
 (Micropas and Energy Pro).

Hydronic Heating – MEG has a subsidiary
specializing in radiant heating design, National
 Radiant Design Center
, including radiant floor,
 radiators, baseboard, etc.

 Standard Heating &Air Conditioning
MEG has design experience in most types of
 conventional heating and cooling systems.

 Alternative Heating and Cooling
 Systems
- Geothermal, Solar Photovoltaic and
 Solar Thermal (See Below)

Plumbing – Standard Plumbing Design for
 contract documents, submittals and approvals

 Grey Water (Reclaimed water)
Utilizing the water from sinks, showers and
other approved household fixtures, MEG has
designed residential grey water systems to be
  used for site irrigation.

 Solar Photovoltaic (Electric)
With many benefits including ecological, cost
savings and investment, MEG can provide
consultation, design and plan preparation for a
variety of solar PV systems.  Utility and
government rebates are still available making
the systems very popular and cost effective.
Please go to Links for more information on
 these systems.

Solar Thermal – If you are interested in
integrating solar hot water heating into your
domestic water, pool and heating systems,
MEG can assist, having designed hundreds of
 simple and sophisticated systems.

Fire Suppression – MEG can provide
simple specifications based on the type of
building or full design layouts for NFPA 13,
 13D and 13R systems.

 Pool Ventilation and Dehumidification
Indoor pools will typically require a
 good ventilation or dehumidification strategy
to control indoor air quality or condensation
 build up.

 Mechanical Crawlspace and Attic
 Ventilation
– When trying to maintain
 certain architectural aesthetics or having
grade challenges, many architects are utilizing
effective mechanical systems to meet attic and
 crawlspace ventilation requirements.  These
systems have the advantage of eliminating
 most of the perimeter penetrations.

 Fresh Air Ventilation, Allergen and
 Humidity Control
– With today’s improved
 construction techniques and building materials,
homes are being built tighter than ever, cutting
down on the fresh air that usually enters a
house through normal cracks and voids.  This
can lead to “Sick Building Syndrome” or
inadequate ventilation and humidity build up.
MEG can design a stand alone or integrated
system to control humidity and filter air.
Heating Recovery Ventilation (HRV) is used
to introduce a constant supply of fresh air to
 the house.

Cost Benefit Analysis – With today’s
unstable fuel prices, MEG has the ability to
run cost comparisons with different sources
(natural gas, propane, geothermal, solar, etc.)
over the course of one year’s use.

Duct sizing reports as required per
 CMC
– As required by the 2001 CMC, new
HVAC ducted systems are required to have
calculations done to show proper sizing of the
 system.
